Tour Wrap-up

Somewhere between Chicago, a Philly blunt, 10 cases of beer, 1500 miles and a frontal lobe lobotomy, I lost track of my tour blogging.

Our Friday show in Detroit fell-through, but some friends hooked us up with a last minute pool hall gig as a replacement. The plus: the night was ours and we played whatever the hell we wanted. The negative: the audience was largely more interested in hitting colored balls into holes than in to artfully-executed self-expression.

...And the tour's prize from must uninspired and uncreative heckle came from a 50 year-old lady who, after Scoop started off the night with some light holiday banter "..blah blah..you guys get your shopping done today?...", responded with a crisp, "FUCK YOU." LOL Come on, old, bitter, Midwestern grandma, at least devise a quip of some sort. Make fun of my boots. Of Chris's glasses. Anything.

But the world's most posi-positive...is a negative. We still made some new friends and fans that night. Oh, how the white nights promised us the world. The world, and elsewhere! The nightcap were many $1 dances that washed away all sorrows.

The following day and last show of the tour was a return to true form. Six Lives Out hooked-up a heavy show and the line-up was pretty solid. We rocked hard for moms, had some shots, talked-up some sexy babies who wanted to party, then were out of there!

We decided to drive strait through the night and arrive in NYC by noon on Sunday. As we approached the portal of the Lincoln Tunnel, a new glimmer of hope and gloom befell us all. We had returned from the country to the only city that will promise you everything in exchange for taking everything. It was the end of selfless kindness and $2 slice of apple pie and the return of the cynical and $12 martini. Yet our field trip had still energized us to maintain the momentum and rise above.
