Scoop hooked us up with a friend of his who does professional photography and professional dominatrix-ing. The shoot took place at her S&M Dungeon -more like at S&M Loft in SoHo. Though unsure at first, the whole thing sounded very "Janes Addiction" to me, and being a big fan of theirs forever, I was down to give the location a shot (npi).
We actually did 80% of the photos on the rooftop with the whole grungy roof/NYC skyline thing going on. 20 minutes into the set, Leda's (the Dominatrix) camera batteries died. A quick cell call later and a impish middle-aged guy meekly and promptly appeared in the roof portal. After barking a few orders and insults his direction, we kinda figured-out that this dude was her slave (in the parlance of such things). haha He went out and got the batteries and was doing her bidding the whole time. It was hilarious.
We got some pretty killer shots up there on the roof. The only problem is that the light was a little too bright for most of them. Which probably means a re-shoot sometime in the next few weeks.
After that, we did a few "rolls" in the dungeon rooms. The walls were adorned with Braveheart's private arsenal and I'm still trying to figure out what the giant chain and engine hoist was all about. The rooms had a gothic red brick vibe and we did get a few cool shots. The rest of the dungeon rolls seemed a little forced and basically "not us." I thought we were going to see Chris turn angry drunken Irishman when Leda kept commanding him to take his shirt off. The question is: who was about to get Medieval on who's ass? On the other hand, I think I will privately cherish my Iron Maiden moment, posing in the Electric Chair.
After those sets, we saw our friend, the S&M slave dude, again. This time he was getting some first aid to the wounds on his back. Next time, he'll get those batteries faster, that fuck!
We wrapped up our shoot and returned to the village for some drinks and chow. Then checked my hard drive to find that we forgot to copy over 1/2 the photos. Suxx. But we all felt we were just warming up and probably needed another session anyway. So, for now, here's to the Spinal Tap of photo ops!
